About Us : History

Omkar Sadhana Ashram is a Shaktipat Parampara Ashram set up by His Holiness Swami Madhav Tirthji Maharaj on January 26, 1983. The Ashram is situated in the Anand city/district of the Indian state of Gujarat. During the British rule, Anand was a famous railway junction of the BBRS railway, presently Indian Railways. In modern India, Anand is known as the milk capital of India, famous for the Amul Dairy and the dairy development programme known world over as the Operation Flood.

Anand is well connected by all means of transport, such as rail, road and air. The international airport is situated at Ahmedabad, which is about 65 kms away. The domestic airport is situated at Vadodara, which is about 35 kms. Anand railway station is on the Western Railway route, from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and is about 450 kms from Mumbai.

The administration of the Ashram is done by a Board of Trustees of a Trust registered under the Public Trusts Act. The Ashram is spread over an area of approx 65,000 sq.ft. It is located on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by green fields in a very quiet atmosphere. The infrastructure includes a group meditation hall, library, satsang hall, rooms for monks, specially designed meditation cells (mauna mandirs) for observing complete silence, well furnished guest house accommodation for about 150 persons, a special residential block for ladies, an excellent kitchen, a beautiful garden, etc.
